A live session on the National Education Policy (NEP)

A live session on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was conducted today by Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni, Kulguru of the University of Mumbai. The event aimed to provide insights into the NEP 2020, its objectives, and how it seeks to transform the Indian education system. The session was broadcasted live on YouTube and attended by all teachers and students of Changu Kana Thakur Secondary and Higher Secondary Vidyalaya,New Panvel under the guidance of the Respected Principal Mr. Prashant More Sir, Supervisor Mr. Ajit Sonawane Sir(Arts and Commerce) and Supervisor Mrs. Swati Patil Madam (Science).

The primary objective of this session was to:

1. Educate students and faculty about the key provisions of NEP 2020.

2. Highlight the policy’s vision to create a more flexible, multidisciplinary, and inclusive education system.

3. Guide students on how NEP 2020 can shape their educational journey and career paths. 

Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni elaborated on the following features of NEP 2020:

1. Curriculum:

• The curriculum has been redesigned to include early childhood care and education, making education more holistic and foundational.

2. School Structure:

• The 10+2 structure has been replaced with the 5+3+3+4 system to better align with a child’s cognitive development stages.

3. Vocational Education:

• Vocational education is integrated with general education to help students develop industry-relevant skills.

4. Higher Education:

• The policy aims to increase gross enrollment in higher education to 50% by 2035.

5. Education System:

• A vision to create an inclusive, equitable, and accountable education system.

6. Learning Environment:

• Focus on creating optimal learning environments with adequate support for students.

The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of NEP 2020 and how it can influence their education and future careers.
